For the last 3 months, I've been completely obsessed with the idea of a matte red lip. This is mostly weird because I can easily say red is my least favorite color and not a shade to be found in my wardrobe. I just always felt it was a hue that didn't suit me. I don't know if it's something in the air, but lately I just couldn't get a red lip off my mind. I wanted to give it a try, so off to the MAC COSMETICS store I went. After trying a few options, I decided on a lipstick in the color RUSSIAN RED and a lip pencil in the color BRICK. For someone who usually only wears shiny lip gloss, this was a huge departure for me.
The entire process takes a bit of effort and commitment and well, some practice. To reduce chances of feathering, I start with a heavy pencil outline then completely fill in the lip. The look is completed with a generous amount of lipstick that I apply with a lip brush. It does take a bit to get used to and
you will most likely have to have reapply throughout the day. Might I recommend drinking through a straw whenever possible.
